In the last 24 hours in India, 57,117 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed and 764 deaths have occurred.
According to the Ministry of Health, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country now is 16,95,988 including 5,65,103 active cases, 10,94,374 recovered/discharged cases, and 36,511 deaths.
64.54% of the coronavirus infected have recovered & have been discharged, while 2.18% of the patients have died.
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has informed that a total of 1,93,58,659 samples have been tested for coronavirus till 31 July.
The highest number of cases in the country have been confirmed in Maharashtra. On Friday, July 31, 10,000 new cases of corona infection were reported in the state, while the total infection cases in Pune has reached one lakh. The number of active cases in the state has gone up to about 1.50 lakh. Pune and Thane have overtaken Mumbai.
Covid-19 cases exceed 1.75 crores worldwide
According to Johns Hopkins University, the total number of coronavirus cases worldwide has crossed the figure of 17.5 million, while the number of deaths has exceeded 6,78,000.
The US tops the list of most affected countries in the world with 45,59,008 cases of infection and 1,53,311 deaths. Brazil ranks second with 26,62,485 infections and 92,475 deaths.
