Actor Nivin Pauly is the new Malayalam superstar. According to media reports, he has earned the coveted ‘superstar’ tag after his blockbuster hit Premam.
Nivin Pauly must have obviously celebrated that, but then came comparisons with other stalwarts of Malayalam cinema, Mammooty and Mohanlal.
There were reports that Pauly had increased his pay to Rs 2 crore which is equal to the remuneration Mohanlal and Mammootty quote.
All young actors in Malayalam industry seem to know that fans of the two stars won’t take kindly to such comparisons, and that is precisely why Nivin Pauly seems to have jumped into action, denying these reports.
In an interview with Khaleej Times, Nivin Pauly slammed the news reports and said that the Malayalam film industry can never afford such a huge amount and the media had cooked up these stories.
The young actor also asked his fans not to compare him with superstar Mohanlal, saying even if he did hundred movies, he would not be able to Mohanal’s might.
Premam, which reportedly collected 20 crore in 13 days, features three love affairs of the protagonist (Nivin Pauly). When asked who he would perhaps have romanced in real life among those three ladies, he answered Malar.
He also credited Vineeth Sreenivasan, who introduced him to the film industry and directed his breakthrough movie Thattathin Marayathu, for his success.
