Here’s Some ‘Game of Thrones’ Trivia to Tide You Over

Game of Thrones is over and it still feels unreal. Audiences from all across the world have tuned in to the epic fantasy show for almost a decade and with the last season wrapping up, there’s a huge void in the hearts of true GoT fans. And while the final batch of episodes have received a mixed response with the last couple of episodes proving controversial, the cultural impact of the blockbuster series cannot be denied.

Either way, you’d be relieved to know that an in-depth behind-the-scenes documentary titled Game of Thrones: The Last Watch is going to air soon to soothe your broken heart and wrap the series with a bow. The two hour long feature documentary is HBO’s final gift to viewers.

As you eagerly await The Last Watch, here’s some lesser known trivia about the show to keep you hooked.

  • Charles Dance who played Lord Tywin found his character's treatment of his son so appalling that he kept apologising to Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) between takes.
  • It's no longer a surprise that everything about the show is expensive with millions of dollars spent per episode. Even the petrified dragon eggs that appear briefly in season 1 before being hatched into majestic beasts are a complete work of art and worthy enough to serve as a wedding gift to author George R. R. Martin. Yes, David Benioff and DB Weiss actually gifted one of the three him to celebrate his marriage to longtime partner Parris McBride.
  • The actor behind Melisandre, Carice van Houten, could've played Cersei Lannister. She was asked to audition for the role of the queen but was unable to because she was filming another project.
