Indian aesthetics and organic fashion are gaining momentum with every passing day. This was evident in the designers JJ Valaya’s and Rahul Mishra’s choice of show openers in the Mumbai edition of the Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour.
It would be a delight for any fashion patron to witness two designers, with otherwise entirely opposing design principles, showcasing their latest collections that find commonality in their source of inspirations, the Indian soul. The extravagant array of clothes coloured the ramp in strikingly different hues.
While the display by Valaya was more about richness and saw traditional blending seamlessly into modern with the use of jewel tones, Mishra made his models sashay in monochromes that reflected earthiness.
The highlight of the night was when Sonakshi Sinha made an appearance as Valaya’s showstopper wearing a heavily embellished, ruby red anarkali lehenga.
And we think that the star has found her way to have fun even in an outfit as heavy as this one.
JJ Valaya
Much like Valaya himself, his collection The Bolshoi Bazaar was a personification of edgy grandeur. What has remained as a constant with the designer is his inspiration to fuse unimaginable separates and add a touch of royalty to it. Valaya, who takes pride in creating fine accoutrements with handcrafted and organic fabrics, infused some Russian splashes in his collection.
The fusion of Indian and Russian cultures combined with the subtle sense of grandeur and style coming together will show the new kind of coolness to the audience.JJ Valaya, Fashion Designer
We love the royal colours, the cinched-at-the-waist sari and the knee-length sari teamed with a churidar.
Rahul Mishra
Mishra’s collection is reminiscent of his fond memories of growing up in a village. He infused rustic with modern in his clothes.
We love the variety brought in with the use of just two colours, and the harmony created by the combination of see-through fabrics and jackets.
