In 2013, selfie was the Oxford Dictionary Word of the year and now Philippines’s capital Manila has created the “first-ever selfie museum”.
Philippines has an art museum that, instead of keeping you away from the ‘do not touch’ art pieces, encourages you take selfies with them and share your pictures.
The Art in Island in Manila uses three dimensional replicas of paintings.
The museum not only encourages its visitors in selfie-taking on the premises, it also invites them to touch, play with, and climb on the paintings and sculptures. “Here, art paintings are not complete if you are not with them ... If you don’t take pictures with them,” Blyth Cambaya, the museum’s corporate secretary was quoted as saying.
