Another friend lost, another life mourned. Actor Satish Shah expresses his sadness and desolation caused by Om Puri’s untimely death. Speaking to The Quint, he remembered the good old days he spent with the veteran actor who he’d known from his days at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

Right now, I’m in a state of shock, because my association with him was from 1974, we were batch mates. We joined the FTII together, we got out together, did quite a few movies together. Last time I met was at a small party, which a friend was having who also happens to be an alumni of FTII. He was in a pretty jolly mood, he was on cloud nine. Sher aur shayari kar rahe thhe. He took the mic and refused to leave it and we all had a good laugh over it. That was the funniest moment, because I’ve never seen Om do that. He took to centre stage, with guys like Bappi Lahiri and others around, which was quite funny. That was the last time I met him. This was just about a month and half or something ago. He was romantic at heart! We often made fun of him, in our days at FTII. He was always a silent lover of many girls around. He knew it that I knew it, so he was very aware, very conscious of my presence. All these thoughts are coming back. Very sad, very sad! Unfortunately, today was the only day I got up at 9:30, rather late, and there was a flood of messages on my WhatsApp and other SMSes from the classmates, we have a strong bonding, us FTII guys.Satish Shah, Actor
