Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali, which is nearing completion, has been confirmed for a release in May. The team is currently shooting important portions featuring Rajinikanth in Malaysia and the project, including the patchwork scenes, will be completely wrapped up before the first week of March.
“Rajinikanth will resume shooting Shankar’s magnum-opus 2.0, which is currently progressing at a brisk pace in Boat Club, Chennai, after the final schedule of Kabali. He will start the dubbing work for Kabali in March once the post production phase kickstarts. The first look trailer of Kabali will be revealed on April 14th, 2016 to mark the occasion of Tamil New Year,” reveals a source.
“For the past two weeks, Rajinikanth has been simultaneously shooting for Kabali and 2.0 in Mohana Studios and Boat Club. Now, he will take a month-long break from 2.0 to finish his remaining portions for Kabali since Shankar wants Rajinikanth to not lose his focus,” the source adds.
In a welfare function organized by Rajinikanth fans yesterday in Sholingar, producer Thanu said, “The US distribution rights for Kabali have been acquired by Cine Galaxy for INR 8.5 crores. It is an unprecedented price for a Tamil film in the US.”
Meanwhile, Kalaipuli S Thanu has also confirmed to various distributors across the state that Kabali will most likely hit the screens either on May 6th or May 13th, 2016. The audio launch is expected to be organized in Malaysia to cash in on the overwhelming response of Malaysian Tamils during the film’s shooting in the nation.
Vijay’s Theri, which is also produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under V Creations, is set for release on the auspicious Tamil New Year day and the team is working round the clock to complete the post production work on time.
Billed as a gangster drama, Kabali has Rajinikanth playing the titular role of a don named Kabaleeswaran, who hails from Mylapore. The film features an ensemble cast including Radhika Apte, Dhansika, Dinesh, John Vijay and Kalaiarasan. The music for the film is composed by latest sensation Santhosh Narayanan.
