As avid Tamil film buffs know, Rajinikanth is currently shooting for two films - 2.0 and Kabali - simultaneously after a huge gap of 25 years. His mega-budget magnum-opus Robot 2 with taskmaster Shankar went on floors two weeks back and the team is all set to wrap up the first schedule tomorrow in the outskirts of Chennai. Few important scenes featuring Rajinikanth as Vaseegaran (the scientist) were canned in this schedule apart from a handful of combination sequences between Amy Jackson and the superstar.
“Rajinikanth will take a month-long break before he comes back to the sets of Robot 2. He will resume shooting Kabali, which is on the brink of completion, with director Pa. Ranjith from the second week of January. The team is expected to take flight to Malaysia once again to shoot the remaining scenes of Kabali which is likely to be wrapped before February,” says a source in the know.
Kalaipuli S Thanu who is producing Kabali is planning to organize the audio launch of the film in Malaysia to draw the attention of Rajinikanth’s extensive fan base there. It must be remembered that the album of Shankar’s Endhiran, composed by AR Rahman, was launched in Malaysia and the event turned out to be a huge success with an unprecedented number of fans thronging to the venue.
Rajinikanth is expected to resume shooting for Robot 2 from March in Chennai. There are also reports that Akshay Kumar, who plays the baddie in the film, has readjusted the shooting dates of his forthcoming romantic feature Namaste England to complete Robot 2 without any delay.
