Priyanka Chopra did something really sweet for her Bajirao Mastani co-star Deepika Padukone recently. While both play Ranveer Singh’s love interests in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, off-screen they share a great bond. Priyanka Chopra had ordered some dance gear from US and you know what she did? She ordered the same dance gear for Deepika as well. Shampa, who was choreographing Priyanka and Deepika’s dance-off number revealed, “There is simply no competition between the two. Priyanka and Deepika are very good friends. Priyanka had ordered some dance kit for herself and she ordered an extra for Deepika.”
2. Jaya-Amitabh Coming Back On Screen Together
With R Balki’s latest romcom set to go on floors in a month, it looks like this film too will not be without Amitabh Bachchan’s presence. In what will surely be a treat for cine-goers, the first couple of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan are set to make an appearance together in Balki’s film, which stars first-time pair Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead. But this will not be a conventional cameo, as the Bachchans are not slated to play either Kareena or Arjun’s parents, but themselves. According to a source, they will be playing a superstar couple and the shoot for the cameo will be done over two days at Jalsa, their family home in Mumbai.
3. Phantom’s First Look is a Video Game Cover Rip Off ?
The first look of the Saif Ali Khan- Katrina Kaif starrer Phantom, which debuted on social media today, bears an uncanny resemblance to the cover of a 2011 video game called Homefront. The poster of the film, directed by Kabir Khan, features Katrina and Saif blindfolded with the national flag, with Mumbai’s iconic Taj Mahal Hotel seen in the backdrop. The cover of the shooter video game shows a fighter blindfolded in pretty much the same way. The film, releases on August 28th and is an Indian political thriller, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Phantom is about the Mumbai attacks post-26/11and is an adaptation of Hussain Zaidi’s book Mumbai Avengers.
4. Radhika Apte Loves Her Simple Seductress Character in Ahalya
The actress, who has been getting rave reviews from the audience and the critics for Sujoy Ghosh’s 14-minute-long short film Ahalya, said it was a wish come true, to work with the filmmaker and share screen space with the veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee again.
As the young wife of an ageing artist, Apte brought an understated sensuality to her character, which is the director’s feminist take on a popular mythological story. She liked the fact that despite being a seductress, her character had a certain innocence and simplicity.
“It was a unique character of a seductress and yet so simple. There was nothing flashy about it. It was very simple and subtle. The experimentation with the look is also like that, the way she walks and sits... I am happy it has paid off,” Radhika told PTI.
5. Bajrangi Bhaijaan Beats Box Office Expectations in Pakistan
Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s Eid gift to his fans, is not only breaking records in India, but has also garnered appreciation at the Pakistan box office - earning nearly Rs 6 Million (INR3 million/$47,000) in its first week in Karachi and Islamabad alone. The Kabir Khan directorial, which released in India and Pakistan on July 17th, has left behind the collections of Pakistani films Bin Roye andWrong Number. According to Nadeem Mandviwalla, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which focusses on the bond shared by a Pakistani mute girl and an Indian man, minted Rs 3.2 Million in its first week, while Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed starrer Bin Roye raked in about Rs 2.8 Million and Wrong Number managed to collect Rs 2.7 Million in Mandviwalla owned cinemas in Karachi and Islamabad.
