Mallika Sherawat has reportedly acquired the rights to remake the popular American show The Good Wife and will be adapting the series for India. The Good Wife is a legal and political drama that follows the journey of a housewife named Alicia Florrick (played by Julianna Margulies) who returns to her career in law after the events of a public sex and political corruption scandal involving her husband, who is the Cook County State’s Attorney.

According to a report in The Times of India, Mallika will produce the Indian version of the show and also play the lead in it. The rest of the cast and crew for the show is being finalised by Mallika’s team. According to a report, Mallika has chosen to adapt The Good Wife for the Indian audience because, she loves the series (of course!) and it features a fierce and beautifully written female character with enough contradiction, emotional range and surprise.
