As reported earlier, the Hindi, Tamil, Telugu versions of xXx: Return Of Xander Cage could not be censored on time; as they were not submitted for certification on time.
When this lapse was brought to Vin Diesel’s attention, he immediately questioned the film’s producers. The CBFC chief, Pahlaj Nihalani heard of Diesel’s concern about the certification issue and immediately jumped in to save the day.
We broke the queue in order to certify the dubbed versions of xXx. It is a matter of India’s image abroad. We didn’t want to be seen as a nation with a slow ‘slothful’ bureaucracy. We viewed and certified the Tamil and Hindi versions of xXx: Return Of Xander Cage on Friday. The Telugu version could not be certified because of the wrong KDM (Key Delivery Message, which unlocks the film on the digital format). Instead of giving us the Telugu dubbed version, Viacom submitted two KDMs of the Tamil language version.Pahlaj Nihalani, CBFC Chief
Confirming these developments a source from Viacom says, “We got the wrong KDM from our head-office at Paramount in the US. We’ve corrected the mistake and re-submitted the Telugu version. The Hindi and Tamil versions were released as per schedule on Saturday. We hope to release the Telugu version in a day or two as soon as the censors view and certify it.”
