Recently, rumours were swirling that Shah Rukh Khan had dropped out of Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3 and Ranveer Singh had replaced him in the sequel. Now, Zoya Akhtar has rubbished the story calling it ‘absolutely nonsense.’
After the disappointment of Zero, Shah Rukh’s future projects have been in flux. He dropped out of the Rakesh Sharma biopic titled Saare Jahaan Se Accha. It was reported that Don 3 would be SRK’s next film but with director Farhan Akhtar busy with Rakesh Omprakash Mehra’s Toofan, that sequel seemed to be delayed again.
However, no one expected Shah Rukh to be replaced in his iconic Don role, but that is exactly what multiple website reported. When Farhan’s sister Zoya was asked about the rumour, this is what she had to say to Pinkvilla.
“No, no. That’s absolute nonsense. Na toh main Farhan Akhtar hoon, nahi main Shah Rukh Khan ya Ritesh Sidhwani hoon (Neither am I Farhan Akhtar, nor am I Shah Rukh Khan or Ritesh Sidhwani).”Zoya Akhtar
There you have it. Farhan Akhtar has said in the past that he won’t make a Don film without Shah Rukh and that they were working hard on cracking the story for the sequel. It’s only a matter of time till the fans get what they want.
