Actors often go through a complete transformation for their roles and it’s seen on and off in Bollywood as well. Think SRK in Fan. But it’s not often that there’s a transformation so complete that you fail to recognise the actor completely. But the upcoming Sushant Singh Rajput-Kriti Sanon-starrer Raabta is throwing just such a surprise at us.
Rajkummar Rao, who’s doing a cameo in the film, is nothing short of unrecognisable. He tweeted his picture and we can’t stop gaping.
According to a report by Indian Express, Rao is playing a 324-year-old man complete with tattoos and tribal jewellery. Not only did he do 16 look tests with director Dinesh Vijan, but he also sat through six hours of prosthetic make-up every day.
It was so much fun as an actor. Dinoo (Dinesh) has a very clear vision as a director and he gave me a lot of freedom as an actor to explore. The prosthetic used to take almost five to six hours every day and then I would start sweating inside with all that make-up. It needed quite a bit of patience.Rajkummar Rao, Actor
Vijan is of course elated to have Rao on board.
Rajkummar was kind enough to do me a favour. It was tedious but, he patiently sat through it every day. I think, the idea of the prosthetic making him completely unrecognisable excited him as an actor.Dinesh Vijan, Director, Raabta
