Kareena Kapoor has reportedly been signed on for Hindi Medium 2, the sequel to director Saket Chaudhary’s 2017 comedy starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar. While the makers haven’t made any official statement yet, news agency IANS has quoted a source as saying, “She is playing the lead role in the film and might turn into cop mode for it.” The report also suggests that the movie will be shot in London.
Irrfan Khan recently returned to Mumbai after seeking treatment for a neuroendocrine tumour abroad. At the time, film’s producer Dinesh Vijjan said that the actor would be returning for Hindi Medium 2 though he felt it was “too early to talk about it”. He did, however, confirm that Pakistani actor Saba Qamar would not feature in the sequel owing to the ban on Pakistani artistes that was called for by the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) after the deadly Pulwama terrorist attack in February.
