According to reports, Salman Khan has gone on the offensive and filed a defamation case against a TV news channel in the Bombay High Court claiming damages worth Rs 100 crore.

The actor who was accused of poaching chinkaras near Jodhpur in 1998 during the shooting schedule of his film Hum Saath Saath Hain, claimed that a sting operation conducted by a TV news channel in the chinkara poaching case was malicious and defamatory. In a suit filed before a division bench of the Bombay High Court in August this year, Salman has asked for the channel to be restrained from releasing or making public any part of that sting operation.

In the sting operation, the channel has claimed that witnesses say that they saw Khan shoot the chinkaras in Jodhpur, however, later the witnesses allegedly turned hostile and claimed that the video was doctored. In an earlier hearing this year in August, the channel apparently told the HC that it had already removed the video and script of the sting operation and other material related to the case from its website.

While the next hearing of the case is expected to come up in November, both the channel and Salman Khan are reportedly working towards a settlement in the matter. The actor was acquitted in July this year in the blackbuck and chinkara poaching cases by the Rajasthan High Court.
