India will be celebrating its 70th Independence Day this year, but White House press secretary Sean Spicer wished us a happy Independence Day with nearly two months to go.

On this occasion, the reporter asked about the expectations from Trump and Modi's 26 June meeting in Washington DC where Modi will be meeting Trump for the first time and will be the first leader to with whom Donald Trump will sit down for a working dinner.

Answering the question, Spicer said he would “first like to wish India a happy Independence Day.”

He then went on to give a substantive answer, saying President Trump and Prime Minister Modi will “discuss ongoing cooperation, including counterterrorism, defense partnership in the Indo-Pacific region, global cooperation, burden-sharing, trade, law enforcement, and energy. I think it’s going to be a very robust discussion.”

Spicer is known for his frequent gaffes while responding to controversial issues and explaining Trump’s tweets. Recently, Spicer had caused a worldwide stir when he claimed, after the chemical attack in Syria, that even Adolf Hitler did not use poisonous gas to kill Jews.

While most people found it difficult to understand why Spicer would do something like that, people on Twitter had a few theories.

PM Modi has already left for his US visit, which includes a stopover in Portugal. Modi will arrive in the United States on Sunday and will meet with Trump on Monday.
