The Lahore High Court has approved security for those who wish to observe the 86th martyrdom day of freedom fighters – Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev – at Shadman Chowk in Lahore, reported Times of India.
The Shadman Chowk, then part of the Central Jail, was where the three revolutionaries were hanged on 23 March 1931.
Pakistan's Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation had earlier filed a petition in the Lahore High Court, seeking security for the event, citing threats from "religious extremists".

The foundation's chairman, advocate Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi, had said threats had been received from "religious extremists" for the event.
Every year on 23 March, hundreds of people assemble at the Chowk to observe Bhagat Singh’s death anniversary and raise the demand to name it after him.
There have been threats from religious extremists even in the past. In 2015, posters were reportedly put up at the venue, warning followers to stay away.
