Govt Using OSA as Cover in Rafale Case is Kaafi Real

The government on Wednesday, 6 March, told the Supreme Court that documents related to the Rafale aircraft deal have been stolen from the Defence Ministry and threatened The Hindu newspaper with the Official Secrets Act for publishing articles based on those documents.

Referring to the aerial combat with Pakistan last week, the attorney general said the country needs the Rafale jet to defend itself "from F-16 fighter planes that recently bombed us.”

Unruffled by the Centre's stand, The Hindu group’s Chairman N Ram said nobody would get any information from the newspaper on the confidential sources who had provided the documents for its reports on the Rafale deal.
