Three men have been arrested in Mohali, near Chandigarh. The police, who arrested them on a tip-off, have not ruled out a potential link “with Pakistan terror elements.” The police claim that they seized mobile SIM cards, two AK-47 rifles and five pistols.

The arrests come even as the operation to sanitise the Pathankot air base has entered its third day. Police officer GS Bhullar said that “they (the arrested men) had links with smugglers across the border, and many cases of murder are lodged against them. However, there was no report of them being in touch with extremists. They are smugglers who also kidnapped for ransom.”

Bhullar added further that “the three criminals arrested are Gurjan Singh, Sandeep Singh and Jitender Singh.”
