A woman employed with Karnataka’s Sindhanur city corporation was kicked and assaulted by a contract worker in the office premises on 10 June. The incident was captured on CCTV.
The accused, Sharanappa, kicked and assaulted the woman, Nasreen, because she showed up late to work, The Times of India reported.
According to the report, the incident occurred on a Saturday when there were only two people at work. “Nasreen is a permanent employee while Sharanappa was hired on a contract basis as a computer operator,” a senior police official told TOI.
The employees at the corporation found out about the incident only after Nasreen filed a complaint against Sharanappa. A senior police official told the daily:
Following the woman’s complaint, her male colleague has been dismissed and handed over to police.
According to the daily, this is not the first time that Sharanappa has assaulted council staff.
