RIP, Vinod Khanna: The Actor Who Made Women Go Weak At Their Knees
The actor passed away at the age of 70. He had been hospitalised in a Mumbai hospital about a month ago.
Charismatic actor Vinod Khanna is no more. The 70-year-old actor is said to have succumbed to cancer, though there has been no official confirmation of the ailment.
The actor had been hospitalised on 31 March in Mumbai’s Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre in Girgaum. Photos of a frail Khanna had gone viral on social media but we at The Quint believe that the charismatic and much-loved actor should rather be remembered for his charming pictures than the ones showing him battling a debilitating ailment.
Khanna is survived by wife Kavita, three sons and a daughter.
Vinod was a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party member of the Lok Sabha from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab. He will be remembered for his runaway hits like ‘Mere Apne’, ‘Insaaf’ and ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’.
Twitteratti erupted in sorrow. The tweets ranged from personalities like the President of India to actors, film critics and sportspersons, apart from the general public. That is just proof of how Khanna’s popularity cut across all sections of the society.
Even Pakistani journalists took to twitter to express their sadness at Khanna’s demise.
