1. Live: Funeral With Full State Honours For Gauri Lankesh

Gauri Lankesh, senior journalist-activist, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at her residence on Tuesday evening, in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, West Bengaluru.

The 55-year-old editor, of the Kannada tabloid ‘Gauri Lankesh Patrike’, was opening the gate to her house, after having returned home in her car when unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants fired at her indiscriminately. Two bullets hit her in the chest, while one hit her forehead, police said. She died on the spot.

2. Modi in Myanmar Live: PM Modi Visits Ananda Temple in Bagan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi stressed on rooting out terror in a joint press conference on Day 1 of PM Modi’s bilateral visit to the nation.

The PM’s visit comes amid a spike in violence at Myanmar’s Rakhine, after a military counter-offensive against insurgents killed at least 400 people and triggered the exodus of nearly 90,000 villagers to Bangladesh since 25 August.

3. Lucknow Metro Stalls on Day 1, Passengers Stranded For an Hour

The Lucknow Metro’s first commercial run on 6 September was marred by a technical snag, which resulted in hundreds of passengers being trapped inside the train for over an hour with no lights or air-conditioning. The train came to a halt near Alambagh station, ANI reported.

Passengers, excited about their first trip on the metro, were stuck until a team of the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) came to their rescue. The passengers had be evacuated via the rear-end emergency exit.
