1. Maratha Protest: Sea of People Throng Mumbai Streets

Mumbai was engulfed by a 'Maratha storm' as lakhs of the politically powerful community embarked on their first, biggest and final mammoth 'mook morcha' (silent procession) to demand reservations in jobs and education, on Wednesday.

The movement started in 2016, with processions in 57 different cities. While the authorities anticipate participation of between 5,00,000-8,00,000 Marathas from across the state, the organisers are optimistic it will cross three million.

2. Chandigarh Stalking Case: Will Arrest Vikas Barala, Confirm Police

Chandigarh DGP Tajinder Singh Luthra confirmed that both the accused in the Varnika stalking case, Vikas Barala and Ashish Kumar, will be arrested. The accused will be produced in court on Thursday. The police will demand custody of the accused, he added.

4. When Shivaji Stole Mughal Thunder in Maharashtra History Textbooks

The Mughals may have ruled over India for over three centuries – leaving a giant imprint on our culture; but the Maharashtra Education Board is unimpressed.

The board has cut down chapters on Mughal history to just a few paragraphs in the new history textbooks for Class VII students – choosing instead to make Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Marathas the focal point of the book.
