1. Heavy Rains Hit Mumbai, Lives Lost

At least 20 people were killed and over 75 injured after walls collapsed on hutments in Mumbai’s Malad East and Kalyan due to heavy rainfall, ANI reported. Rescue operations are underway.

In the wake of heavy rainfall, the Maharashtra government declared a public holiday in Mumbai on Tuesday, 2 July.

3. Old Delhi Temple Vandalism: Priest Says No Communal Angle

Tension prevailed in Old Delhi’s Chawri Bazar area on Tuesday, 2 July, after a violent altercation between Hindus and Muslims over parking broke out the previous day.

After the flare up, people on social media started circulating videos claiming that a Muslim mob desecrated a Hindu temple in the vicinity. Speaking to The Quint, the priest of the temple, Anil Kumar Pandey, said that a fight broke out outside the temple, after which the temple was attacked.

4. ‘Kabir Singh’ Makes Rs 190.64 Crore at the BO; Set to Cross Rs 200 Crore

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani-starrer Kabir Singh continues to take the box office by storm. The film has earned Rs 190.64 crores at the box office since releasing on 21 June, and is expected to cross Rs 200 crore in a day or two. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh called the film ‘unstoppable’ as it is all set to cross the 200 crore mark.
