1. Cong Imposed President’s Rule in J&K 93 Times: Shah in Lok Sabha

Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the Lok Sabha after the lunch break on Friday, 28 June said that the Congress had imposed President’s rule in J&K more than any other party and has no right to talk about democracy.

Earlier in the day, Shah tabled a Bill to extend the President’s Rule in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

2. DU Admissions: Students On the Go As First Cut-Off List Released

Delhi University announced its first cut-off list for admission to undergraduate courses late on the night of Thursday, 27 June, with Hindu College pegging the highest score of 99 percent for Political Science (Honours) – a marginal increase over last year.

Lady Sri Ram College came a close second with 98.75 percent for BA Programme and Psychology (Honours). Sri Ram College of Commerce has announced a cut-off of 98.75 percent for Economics (Honours).

The document verification, approval of admission and payment of fees for undergraduate admissions on the basis of the first list would be carried out till 1 July (except on 30 June).

3. PM Modi, US President Trump Discuss Iran, Trade, Defence, 5G

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, 28 June, held talks with US President Donald Trump and discussed various bilateral and global issues including Iran, 5G communications networks, trade and defence ahead of the G-20 Summit.

Modi thanked Trump for expressing his "love towards India" in a letter recently delivered by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

The Prime Minister said that he wants to discuss Iran, 5G, bilateral relations and defence ties with Trump.

4. If Woman Succeeds Me, Must Be Attractive: Dalai Lama Doubles Down

Stirring a controversy (again), the Dalai Lama has emphasised that if a woman was to succeed him, she ‘should be attractive’.

Apart from his misogynistic comment, the Tibetan spiritual leader, who was interviewing with the BBC, made some other remarks that can be deemed xenophobic.

Suggesting that Europe should be kept for Europeans, he said: “The whole Europe (will) eventually become Muslim country? Impossible. Or African country? Also impossible."

5. India or England? Nasser Hussain Asks Pak Fans Who They’re Backing

Ahead of England's must-win clash against India, former skipper Nasser Hussain took to social media to ask Pakistani fans which team they would be supporting when the two teams meet on Sunday,30 June, at Edgbaston.

Following their victory over New Zealand, Pakistan have seven points from as many games. Their two remaining games are against Afghanistan and Bangladesh and if they manage to win both of them, they will end up on 11 points.

In such a scenario, it becomes pertinent for England to win both their remaining fixtures as they would then reach 12 points and will qualify for the semi-finals. However, if they fail to register wins in any of the two matches, Pakistan will fancy their chances of making it to the knockout stages.
