Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the 2017 budget as ‘exemplary’, opposition parties including the Congress and the JDU sought to highlight loopholes in the economic document tabled by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley earlier on Wednesday.

While Congress’ Mallikarjun Kharge slammed the budget for neglecting farmers’ loans, JDU Leader Ali Anwar questioned Mr Jaitley’s perceived silence on creation of new jobs in the country.
