The Cabinet Committee on Security met in New Delhi on Wednesday as tensions continued along the India-Pakistan border.

The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he is said to have cautioned his Cabinet on propagating hysteria over the issue of recently conducted surgical strikes according to PTI sources.

He even said that only authorised people should speak about the strikes and people should refrain from speaking out of turn.

The word of caution comes at a time when opposition parties are asking BJP government to furnish proof of the cross border surgical strike.

The government has been reluctant on disclosing the details of the strike.

Situation has been tense along the India-Pakistan border since the 18 September attack at an Army camp in Uri town of Jammu and Kashmir, which left 19 soldiers dead. India blamed Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad militant group for the attack.

The relations between the two neighbouring nations further deteriorated after the Indian Army on 28 September night carried out surgical strikes to destroy terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence which was to meet on Thursday for a briefing by the representatives of the Ministry of Defence on 'Surgical Strikes across the Line of Control (LoC)' has decided to postpone the meeting to 14 October.
