Amazon is primed to hit the video-streaming space in India this month to finally give Netflix a global competition. But the bigger news is that, Amazon could offer its Prime Video service in the country at a cheaper price point than the Rs 500 that plans on Netflix start at.
Other video platforms like Hotstar, Hooq are set to face the music, and with Reliance Jio’s Cinema, Music and TV app available for free, it’s a great time to be a video buff in India.
Amazon in India, as per reports, is going for the juggernaut with its latest service that will be hosting shows like The Grand Tour. For Indian viewers, the company has signed up deals with Dharma Productions, and is also eyeing digital streaming rights for the Indian Premier League (IPL) in India.
This is what a Netflix subscription costs in India right now.
We’re not sure how much Amazon Prime Video’s monthly plan will cost, but what we can say right now is that for Rs 499 (an introductory price) you can get subscribed to Prime in the country.
We can’t wait to see what Amazon has to offer with its Prime Videos in India. It’ll be interesting to see their strength of local content, as that can tilt the balance in their favour.
