This skull-shaped speaker is an interesting option decor-wise. It’s affordable, offers the option of playing music wirelessly and has got a scary laughter too.

Spider Designs’ Skull Speaker with Bluetooth is a great option for those who like to live on the dark side. Priced at Rs 2,999, this Bluetooth speaker is a well priced and great looking speaker, but as audio quality is what really matters, we put the Skull to test.

What’s Good?

The first thing you do with the Spider Designs Skull speaker is to turn it on. The roaring laughter will take you back to the days of popular cartoon shows like Scooby Doo. The Skull speaker supports both, Bluetooth connectivity (up to 10 meters) and AUX input.

Not many speakers at this price point offer both options, so it’s good to have a speaker which finally changes that trend. The speaker has three-sided sound drivers, positioned at the back as well as the front, giving the speaker greater range. You get a built-in 500mAh battery, which the company claims should last anywhere between 6 to 8 hours. While testing the speaker, we managed to get a decent 5 hours of playback on a single charge, which for its price point isn’t too bad.

What’s Bad?

When it comes to entry-level portable speakers, the audio quality leaves us wanting more. The Skull speaker can be loud but the lacks bass. Also, the sound starts to distort at higher volumes.

Unlike most portable speakers, the Skull speakers don’t support call-answering. This might have been done to keep the pricing low.

While testing, the speaker lost connectivity several times, even within the Bluetooth range.
