Snapchat chief executive officer Evan Spiegel hit out at Facebook for 'copying' their features at Recode's annual Code Conference in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California.

“We’d appreciate it if they copied our data protection practices also,” Spiegel responded to a question about Facebook's stories feature being copied from Snapchat, Variety reported.

Spiegel even touched a sensitive nerve while taking a dig at the social media giant. “It’s important to remember that there was no Russian manipulation of data on Snapchat,” he said.

Justifying that the app is more than its features, Spiegel was quoted by Variety as saying, “Our values are actually really hard to copy.”

Spiegel also acknowledged that he had underestimated how investors would react to his decision of going public. He said, “It requires a bit more grit” when asked about the difference between running a public and a private company. He also defended his decision to go public with Snap by saying that it is the better alternative.
