While amusing, it is a smart move on Schmidt’s part to admit that he has used an iPhone, and then proclaim that he finds using Samsung to be better.

Apple and Google are currently in a head-to-head battle in the smartphone market, with Apple making its own hardware and software, while Google provides Android software to handsets.

Google is crucial for companies like Samsung, which rely on Google apps to stay in competition with Apple.

Eric Schmidt and Apple CEO Tim Cook both appeared on the first day of the Start-up Fest, although they did not share the stage together.
