SUBJECT: We don't need your futuristic phone Mi Mix. Kindly take it back.
Dear Xiaomi and dozens of other phone companies,
Thanks but no thanks for your futuristic concept phones. An edge-to-edge glass screen might be your idea of cutting edge innovation, or putting a dual lens camera at the back of your phone so I can zoom in to my pictures, might be your latest breakthrough, but frankly they don't impress me much.
Can you please ignore the selfish and vested interests of your stakeholders and stop shoving down quarterly refreshed cycles of your smart phones down our throats. We don’t want that decimal point of performance upgrade. We certainly don't need them if all you're going to do is remove a certain jack and add a decimal point to your processor speed. We don't want a new model just for the heck of it. We don’t want anything new. Can you stop giving us a new phone this Diwali. And for the rest of the year. Just please, kindly stop.
We just want a phone that’s as reliable, as trusty as the good old Nokia 3310. All we ask for is not the future, but the present. A decent screen, a decent camera, good enough performance, adequate RAM and ROM and a phone that can last for a week. Extensive battery life is the concept I want in my phone, not some futuristic gibberish hashtag that your marketing department conjured up so that they can trend on Twitter.
And dear consumers and friends, I promise you this. If you hold on to the phone you have right now – whatever brand, whatever model, whatever phone you have right now – and not upgrade for the next 18 months, trust me, your life will just be fine. Your world is not going to come to an end.
So dear Xiaomi and other phone making companies, stop bullshitting us and giving us features we don’t give a rat’s ass about.
