Volkswagen has revealed the name of its upcoming compact sedan, Ameo.
Produced at the company’s Chakan plant, the car will be launched at the 13th edition of the Delhi Auto Expo which begins on February 5, 2016.
Volkswagen’s entry into the already populated compact sedan segment will be challenged by established cars like the Maruti Suzuki DZire, Ford Figo Aspire, Tata Zest and Honda Amaze. Ameo is expected to be priced in the same range as well.
The German automaker has been facing severe troubles around the world for fitting their cars with ‘defeat devices’. This helped the car understand that it is going through emission tests and decreased the amount of pollutants significantly. Once back on the road, the car would pollute almost four times the maximum pollutants allowed to be emitted by the car.
We hope that Volkswagen isn’t planning to come out with a diesel version of the Ameo, because well, that won’t really be a smart move.
