Promto, a Delhi-based two-wheeler electric bike-taxi service company has launched their services in the Capital. These two-wheelers will be available for hire from Connaught Place for rides within a radius of 5 km. 20 of these GPS-enabled bikes are currently deployed and charge Rs 5/km.
The launch comes at a time when Delhi is experiencing rising concerns over the levels of pollution and the company aims to tackle that issue.
According to the company, the drivers go through stringent background verification and training on aspects of safety and efficiency, and they have an insurance policy worth up to Rs 1 lakh for the drivers as well as the passenger for the duration of the bike ride. Taking care of hygiene concerns, commuters are provided with disposable hair nets to use underneath the helmets provided by them.
Promto is currently planning to expand its fleet to 500 battery-operated bikes in another 6 months and 10,000 electric bikes in the upcoming 3 years.
