With the allotted day for the India vs New Zealand semi-final getting rained out for most part, play will now resume on Wednesday to decide who plays the 2019 ICC World Cup final on Sunday.
New Zealand were batting on 211/5 when rain disrupted play and once the players left the field, regular showers ensured they couldn't come back on to complete the match.
However, with this being a knockout, the ICC had kept a reserve day for the fixture and play will now resume on Wednesday with New Zealand continuing on from their score from Tuesday.
But, the all-important question for everyone now is, ‘Will it rain on Wednesday as well’?
The answer - yes.
A quick look at AccuWeather’s forecast for Manchester shows that conditions will be ‘partly cloudy’ till 11am. However, 12pm onwards rains are expected.
The match is scheduled to start at 10am.
Showers are expected again at 5pm and then later in the day around 8pm again.
While play is set to resume with New Zealand’s innings at 46.1 overs, if rain continues to disrupt play in Manchester then India’s chase could be truncated as well.
In fact, if India play just 20 overs, that will be enough for a result be declared as well.
However, if even that is not possible then India go onto qualify for the final by virtue of finishing ahead of New Zealand after the group stage.
