Just before MS Dhoni was about to cut the cake, his daughter Ziva can be heard saying: “You just have to say something naa, then blow the candles”.

She then asks Dhoni “are you ready?”, to which Dhoni replies “I am ready” and then goes on to cut the birthday cake.

Making his debut for India way back in 2004, Dhoni is playing in his fourth World Cup for India. The team, under skipper Virat Kohli, has played some excellent cricket and now stands on the cusp of their third World Cup title.

Dhoni had led India to their second World Cup title in 2011, 28 years after they won their first in 1983. Selected to lead a young Indian team first in 2007, Dhoni achieved instant success. He won the inaugural edition of the World T20 and then backed it up with his second ICC title in 2011.

Winning the Champions Trophy in 2013, Dhoni completed the triple of ICC titles and till date remains the only captain to win all three ICC titles (T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy).

Reports of Dhoni deciding to quit international cricket after the 2019 World Cup have started doing the rounds. As per a PTI report, a senior BCCI Official has already ‘hinted’ at Dhoni’s possible retirement after the ongoing World Cup.

"You never know with Dhoni. But it is unlikely that he will continue to play for India after this World Cup. But since his decisions to quit captaincy from the three formats have been taken so suddenly, it is very difficult to predict at the moment," a senior BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
