England’s problems have escalated after their 64-run loss against Australia at Lord’s on Tuesday, 25 June. This is their second straight loss which has put their semi-final chances in doubt.

England face India and New Zealand in their final two games before the knockouts and they are yet to figure out the availability of Jason Roy for their next game against India. India and New Zealand are the only unbeaten teams in the tournament so far.

England, who were considered favourites have had a stop start journey so far in the tournament. They won their campaign opener against South Africa, losing the next game against Pakistan rather surprisingly.

They won three on the trot next against Bangladesh, West Indies and Afghanistan before losing against Sri Lanka and now Australia.

Roy is still nursing his hamstring injury which has kept him out for three games. With the top-order stumbling there is added pressure on him to make a quick return in the team.

Roy's replacement, James Vince, has struggled to get the team away to good starts and been dismissed for 26, 14 and, against Australia, for a duck of two deliveries. It was the worst possible start for England's run chase.

Morgan had his say on Roy’s return against India after their loss to Australia.

“With four days of rehabilitation – he’s hopeful of being fit. But if it’s a big risk, we’ll play it as it is.”

Meanwhile, Former skipper Michael Vaughan told the BBC after England's loss to Australia at Lord's that the medical team may have to "wheel him out... to win them a game potentially" against India on 30 June.
