Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli is enjoying the calm before the Test series storm and posted a picture with wife Anushka Sharma during some off time from cricket.
The Indian cricket team finished their one practise match on Friday and will next be seen on the pitch on 1 August when the five-Test series against England gets underway in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
The picture Virat posted on Instagram has the caption, 'Just being able to walk around feels like the most joyous thing in the world.’
The BCCI have reportedly asked the players to not allow their families to stay with them during the first three Tests at least and so Anushka, along with Shikhar Dhawan’s and Murali Vijay’s families stayed away from the practise game. Anushka was a regular in the stands during the ODI series along with Sakshi Dhoni and Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh.
The England series is Virat’s first as captain in the country and comes on the heels of a T20 series victory and an ODI series defeat against the hosts.
In the curtailed match against Essex, India failed to bowl out their opponents in 94 overs on the third day with Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara also not managing to get much runs in the middle. The opener in fact returned with scores of 0 and 0 in his two innings. Pujara scored 23 off 35 balls.
There was an injury scare to Ravichandran Ashwin after he picked up a minor finger niggle during nets on Thursday but he too took the field on the final day on the match and bowled a few overs. Umesh Yadav’s pace though was the big highlight of the match for Virat as he returned with figures of 4/35 in 18 overs.
