Big B, Sachin, Sehwag Laud India’s 5-1 Win at Hockey World Cup

India entered the quarter-finals of the hockey World Cup after a 5-1 win over Belgium on Saturday.

With another win, the Indian men’s hockey team have inched closer to creating history at the World Cup. Manpreet Singh-led India defeated Canada 5-1 to finish the group stage unbeaten, and seal a direct birth in the quarter-finals on Saturday, 8 December.

With two wins and one draw in the league stage, India finished on top of Pool C with seven points ahead of world no.3 Belgium on account of better goal difference.

Soon after their impressive win in Bhubaneswar, social media was flooded with congratulatory messages for hosts India.

Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan along with Indian cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag lauded the Men in Blue’s performance at the World Cup.
