Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Rio Olympic champions; silver medallist PV Sindhu with coach Pullela Gopichand, bronze medallist Sakshi Malik, and gymnast Dipa Karmakar at 7 Race Course Road on Sunday.
PM Modi also met the Asian Games gold medallist ace shooter Jitu Rai and Sports Minister Vijay Goel at his official residence. Khel Ratna awardees, Dhyan Chand awardees, Dronacharya awardees, and Tenzing Norgay awardees also met the Prime Minister.
Earlier on Sunday, PM Modi in his radio address to the nation had paid tribute to the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, while also praising PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik for their performances in Rio.

Mission Olympics 2020
In context of the Olympics, the Prime Minister also talked about his recent announcement to form a Task Force, under which the government will “go deep” into the subject, study the best practices in the world and prepare a roadmap for the next three Olympic Games in 2020, 2024 and 2028.
He asked state governments also to form such committees so that importance could be given to sports. He urged states to also send their suggestions to the Centre in this regard. He said associations linked to sports should engage in brainstorming in an unbiased manner.
