The youngest marathon runner in the world, Budhia Singh, who was reported as missing, returned home to Odisha on Thursday. He was on a vacation with his mother in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, on a vacation, the two claimed.

The Nayapalli police had registered a case of abduction on the basis of a complaint filed by Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Khurda district. They later traced Budhia in Tamil Nadu.

The vacation was funded by the producers of the film based on the young achiever’s life – Budhia Singh – Born to Run. It will release in the theatres on 5 August.

Expressing his satisfaction over the film based on her son’s life, Budhia’s mother Sukantio Singh also said they were on a holiday.

Budhia Singh at the age of four came to the limelight after running 65 km between Puri and Bhubaneswar in 2006. In 2007, he was shifted to the youth hostel, away from his mother, causing public uproar.

He is now 15 years old and had gone on summer vacation on 10 May and was supposed to join the sports hostel after vacation on 7 June.

While his mother claims that he will not be returning, Budhia himself remains undecided.
