FC Barcelona’s motto is 'Mes que un club’ which means more than a club. After witnessing the El Clasico at Camp Nou, I now know those words are not just there for inspiration, but are followed quite literally.
Real Madrid took on Barcelona in the final El Clasico of this La Liga season on Sunday. It was an inconsequential match as Barcelona had already sealed the title, but the fans believed there was still a lot to play for.
Barcelona were unbeaten in the league. Real Madrid were looking to deny them that record and the Barcelona fans didn’t want their team to lose to Madrid at home.
A football match in Spain is a festival. The fans come out with their jerseys and sit at the bars outside the stadium two-three hours before the start of the game. Then they form into a huge group to enter the stadium together.
Here’s a look at some interesting pictures from the El Clasico.
