Indian opener Mayank Agarwal has just smashed a double century in the first innings of the Test series opener against Bangladesh in Indore.

Bangladesh had been bowled out for 150 by the Indian bowlers on Day 1 itself and the Indian batsmen have been relentless in their charge, amassing over 350 runs already.

The visitors’ tormentor-in-chief incidentally is also Mayank with the Karnataka cricketer smashing his second double century of the year. Rohit Sharma scored just 6 while Indian skipper Virat Kohli got out on a duck.

While Mayank scored his century earlier in the day, his 150 came up just before the Tea break and while he celebrated the feat, his captain had a special message for him from the dressing room.

As the TV cameras zoomed into the skipper, Virat Kohli applauded the milestone but quickly gestured for the opener to convert the 150 into a double hundred but making a ‘V’ sign with his fingers.

Mayank responded with a ‘thumbs up’ and clearly took his captain’s command by heart as he raced to a double century, hitting a 6 to get to the magic mark. While he celebrated his second double ton of the year, Mayank looked into the dressing room and made the same ‘V’ gesture that Virat had.

Twitter has joined in on the celebration of Agarwal’s 200.

Journalist Shekhar Gupta applauded the batsman’s hunger and desire. “Mayank Agarwal isn’t your most attractive or technically accomplished batsman. But he has one quality that most Indian batting starts lack: the hunger to go on and on after a 100”.
