India’s international and domestic cricketers are set to receive a 100 percent hike in their salaries, according to The Times of India. The Committee of Administrators (CoA) is looking for a way to add Rs 200 crore to the existing pool of revenue for salaries – Rs 180 crore – to provide a hike in the next season.

Once the CoA comes up with a plan, it will be presented to the general body of the BCCI for their formal consent.

At the moment, 26 percent of BCCI’s revenues are divided into three ways: 13 percent for international players, 10.6 percent for domestic cricketers and the rest is given to women and junior cricketers.

Virat Kohli, who earned Rs 5.51 crore from 46 matches in 2017, may make over Rs 10 crore every year. And a Ranji cricketer, who earns Rs 12 to Rs 15 lakh per year, could receive around Rs 30 lakh from the next season.

Senior cricketers are certainly going to get a 100% raise and even domestic players would get the same percentage increase.

Since these cricketers are the reason for the BCCI’s revenues, can’t the board afford another Rs 200 crore for their salaries?

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly batted for domestic cricketers' salary hike during the BCCI SGM on Monday. He said that the increase in salaries for domestic cricketers is a must.

The CoA is also trying to find a way to compensate Cheteshwar Pujara with a fair amount, since he doesn’t play the shorter-formats.

However, BCCI’s acting president CK Khanna told ANI that nothing is finalised yet.

Nothing is finalised. There are chances of having another set of meetings over the pay hike proposal. BCCI’s acting treasurer Aniruddh Chaudhry is working on a draft proposal. It will be discussed in BCCI Finance Committee and SGM.
