It’s a big year for wrestlers with the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and also the World Championships in 2018. Somewhere between practice sessions and competitions, we caught up with two of India’s biggest and most successful female wrestlers - Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik.

While Sakshi shot into the limelight when she became India’s first female wrestler to win an Olympic medal at Rio in 2016, Vinesh has been a medal favourite ever since she broke into the scene and out of the shadows of her more illustrious Phogat sisters, a few years back.

Set to fight their way to the podium in Indonesia at the Asian Games that start this weekend, the contemporaries talked about their preparations, memories of the Rio injury suffered by Vinesh and also revelled in a little banter when Sakshi’s husband and Indian wrestler Satyawart Kadian was mentioned.
