In another instance of VIP culture, coupled with the privilege accorded to self-styled godmen, a Jodhpur-Delhi flight was delayed and failed to follow protocol due to Asaram Bapu and his brigade, reported MensXP.
The Jet Airways Flight 9W 2552 which was scheduled to fly at 10:30am got delayed to 11:55am, 1:20pm and finally departed at 2:00pm, much to the dismay of passengers who were not even informed about the changes.
Passengers documented the horrific flight on video.
The godman was wheeled to the flight, being surrounded by his bhakts and policemen. Instead of an intercom announcement, the ground staff hurriedly told passengers to board the aircraft.
There was no in-flight safety instructions given, the air-conditioning was not working and Asaram Bapu’s followers caused a ruckus by sitting wherever they pleased, disrupting other passengers. They also had the cheek to ask how the crew was serving non-vegetarian food when the godman was on the flight.
No refreshments were provided, vague “technical” glitches were cited as the cause for the stuffy flight and when the passengers tried complaining to the airline authorities, their concerns were laughed off.
When Asaram Bapu left the airport, his devotees rushed to fall at his feet as though he were a messiah or he would lead them to salvation.
The lives of all the passengers had been jeopardised by the staff by flouting protocol. They allowed an accused man and his followers get away with acting like they were above the law.
Whatever may have been the reason for the delay, the other passengers had the right to know the details of the delay. And they should not have been made to suffer at the behest of one ailing convict.
