UP Civic Polls: The Number of Seats BJP Won, According to EC

A sweep means a party winning much more than 50 percent seats. If we go by this definition, the Bharatiya Janata Party did sweep the mayoral polls, winning 14 of the 16 seats.

But did the party win more than 50 percent seats in urban local bodies across the state? The answer lies in the numbers published by the UP election commission.

But that did not stop some media houses to announce a sweep for the saffron party.
