Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, 29 March, slammed the Opposition for seeking proof about India's air strike on terror camps in Balakot in Pakistan.

"It has been a month. Pakistan is still busy counting the dead bodies and our rivals here are asking for proof," Modi told an election rally in Jeypore in Odisha.

“When India acts against terrorists, enters their home and hits them, these people demand proof,” he added.

Modi said a lesson should be taught to those who insult the capabilities of the Indian armed forces and scientists.

"Do you trust the Indian Army?" asked Modi. "But our Opposition (leaders ) have no trust."

‘Chowkidars in Space’

Modi also highlighted his government's "achievements" in space under 'Mission Shakti' and at grass-roots level through various social welfare schemes, and asked people to vote for an administration that can take concrete decisions and not just raise slogans.

Launching his campaign for the April-May parliamentary election, Modi referred to the successful anti-satellite (A-SAT) missile test and said his government has put a 'chowkidar' even in space.

The NDA government wouldn't have been able to do any development work in the country without the support of the people, the prime minister said as he sought blessings from his supporters for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

“The NDA government has been working hard to develop road and rail infrastructure in the state. There is no dearth of funds when it comes to development work in the country,” Modi said.

"In the last five years, the government has been able to build homes for eight lakh families, light up 3,000 houses and provide gas connections to 40 lakh homes," he added.

He also came down heavily on Opposition parties who, he said, "belittled" 'Mission Shakti, which paved the way for the country to enter an elite space club.

"Those who are criticising the anti-satellite technology will be given a befitting reply in the elections," he claimed, urging people to vote for a government that "can take concrete decisions, not the one that only raises slogans".
