Congress spokesperson Mahadev Shelar reportedly killed himself in Mumbai on 14 October. Shelar was also the general secretary of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee’s (MPCC).
Shelar, 64, hung himself from the ceiling fan at his home in Mulund West area at around 2:30 pm on Saturday. He was discovered in his room and rushed to Fortis hospital where he was declared dead. His body has been sent for postmortem to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar. Police is still investigating the reason for the suicide and have registered an Accidental Death Report.
His suicide note has been recovered, News18 reported. In the note, Shelar reportedly wrote that he decided to end his life because he has been suffering from diabetes and other health-related problems for a long time.
