The Bharatiya Janata Party-led (BJP) central government is preparing to launch a propaganda blitz from next month. From crediting itself for controlling inflation to maintaining low fuel prices the propaganda blitz will highlight all, a senior BJP leader told The Quint on the condition of anonymity.
The government will also project that it has increased FDI, manufacturing and industrial production and revived industrial projects, stalled under the Congress-led UPA government.
BJP’s image is a bit tainted after its humiliating defeat at the hands of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Delhi assembly elections and with the ongoing protests against Land Acquisition from an unified opposition.
With upcoming state assembly elections in Bihar and West Bengal round the corner, the central government hopes this exercise will help it regain lost ground.
“It will be a nation-wide campaign and the achievements will not be confined to the overall accomplishments, but Ministry-wise performance will be released for the people to review,” the senior BJP leader said.
This public outreach campaign is expected to begin early next month and will continue until May, when the central government completes one-year in office.
“The campaign will not just be confined to the press, but there will be advertisements highlighting these achievements for television viewers. There are also plans of pushing the campaign on social media websites like Facebook and Twitter,” the BJP leader said.
Highlights of the central government’s achievements will be tweeted out from Twitter handles of all senior BJP ministers and leaders in addition to promoting it on their Facebook pages, according to a BJP office bearer in Delhi. The party’s social media team will put out these slides on social media with hashtags such as #AchheDin and #PowerForAll.
The BJP national executive is expected to meet in Bangalore early next month, when propaganda Power Points will be distributed for members to promote individually.
